Over two days (3–4 September 2025), the fifth edition of Just Transition Forum Asia (JTFA) – a flagship international virtual event co-hosted by the Regional Climate and Energy Project of Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) Asia and Climate Action Network Southeast Asia (CANSEA) – welcomed more than 700 participants from around 60 countries to dive into 10 insightful sessions: two plenaries and eight labs.

We explored global, regional, and country-specific dimensions of a Just Transition:

  • The road to COP30 and negotiations under the Just Transition Work Programme
  • The EU Sustainability Due Diligence Directive and its impact on Asia
  • The forthcoming ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation (2026–2030)
  • Focused discussions on China, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, Thailand, and a powerful lab on Gender
  • A closing call from Commitment to Action

A special additional feature this year was joining the Africa Climate Justice Caravan, linking voices across Asia and Africa for a fairer future.

Together with governments, unions, civil society, academia, and the private sector, we shared knowledge, evidence, and experiences on how to move towards a socially just, climate-resilient, renewable energy-driven future.

On behalf of FES and CANSEA, thank you to everyone who made JTFA 2025 possible: our speakers, moderators, participants, our MC Ceej Tantengco-Malolos, and the dedicated colleagues who organized this event.

Until next year, see you at JTFA 2026!
