At the hearing jointly hosted by the Subcommittee on Human Rights, the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality and the Delegation for Relations with Afghanistan, among the invited guest speakers is Mirco Günther, country director of Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) in Afghanistan.
From the office in Kabul founded 15 years ago, FES works with a wide network of partners from the civil society and the government to help promote social justice and support trade unions, educate young leaders, facilitate regional dialogue on peace and security, and raise awareness on issues related to flight, migration and the plight of refugees. As part of this work, FES helps to promote women’s rights and ensures increased participation of and opportunities for women across all projects.
